Outlook

This is as close to an elimination game as it gets in mid-October. Like Washington State, there weren’t very high hopes for Stanford in 2021. Yet here, both teams are only a game out of first place in the Pac-12 North.

Wazzu has both momentum and home-field advantage going for them. When running smoothly, Washington State’s offense can be very good. The problem is that they have been very inconsistent lately. Quarterback Jayden de Laura looks like he found himself in recent games.

It’s the same with Wazzu’s defense. They make big plays, but often, they are too few and far between.

This game should be very close. Both teams gain ad give up close to the same number of yards and points. Ultimately it comes down to Stanford’s run game against the Cougars passing attack. Whichever one does better wins.

I think Washington State continues its recent string of good play. de Laura and his cadre of offensive weapons will prevail over Stanford’s run game. Wazzu’s D should also come up with a few turnovers to keep the Cardinal from scoring.
