Seattle Seahawks: Takeaways vs Washington Football Team

Seattle Seahawks
Pete Carroll, Seattle Seahawks.

The Seattle Seahawks faced off against the Washington Football team on Monday Night Football. Primetime TV for the nation to get a look at the Emerald City’s favorite NFL team. How did the Seattle Seahawk fare in the game?

At the beginning of the 2020 season, the Seattle Seahawks were high-flying. They were an explosive fun offense. That offense highlighted the best skills of their best playmakers. Russell Wilson with his moon-ball. D.K. Metcalf and his big playability. Chris Carson as a power running back who is an underrated pass-catcher out of the backfield. Tyler Lockett as a route technician while offering explosive plays.

That offense was created by Brian Schottenheimer. We know that it collapsed epically in the second half of the season. Subsequently, most fans believed a change in the offensive coordinator was needed. Enter Shane Waldron and his pseudo-Sean McVay offense. I was one of those fans that wanted the Seattle Seahawks to have a new offensive coordinator. I am now the first to admit that I want Schottenheimer’s offense back.

This Waldron offense is…I’m not sure the correct word. I do know it doesn’t work. Let’s review this game.

Groundhog Day

Another NFL game for the Seattle Seahawks and the same everything. You can figure out which player plays which role in the movie. Maybe Wilson is Phil Connors and Pete Carroll is Ned Ryerson. I digress.

This team continues to do the same thing every game. The defense plays hard for four quarters but runs out of gas in the end. While the offense continues to flounder, piling up three and outs. The Seattle Seahawks are dead last in time of possession. Maybe most telling is that on the game-ending interception Wilson seemed to not care or be unphased. I can’t remember a time when a quarterback threw a game-ending interception and looked like Wilson.

Quick Hitters

For the second time, this season the Seattle Seahawks went three and out on five consecutive drives. No team this year has done that feat six consecutive times. For now. With the way this offense operates I bet the Seahawks say “Hold my beer” when they read this.

The biggest highlight of the game was the Rasheem Green block point after attempt returned for two points. The big man was able to block the kick, recover the ball, and then rumble 94-yards into the end zone. For anyone interested, he reached a top speed of 18.41mph.

Well, the Seattle Seahawks are onto San Francisco. This time the 49er’s will be traveling to Seattle. I don’t know if anyone should be expecting the same results from the first matchup.
