Seattle Seahawks: Opponent Preview – San Francisco Part 2
The Seattle Seahawks play host to San Francisco for a rematch. Previously the Seahawks came out on top in the first matchup. They’ll be looking to repeat the same outcome.
The Seattle Seahawks come into this week’s game in the midst of a three-game losing streak. Things are looking bleak for the team and the organization. The chatter about trading Russell Wilson and how this team needs a reset is growing louder. What this upcoming offseason will look like is anyone’s guess. For now let’s focus on this week’s opponent, San Francisco.
In the previous matchup, Russell Wilson was fully healthy. However, upon review, the numbers he put up weren’t good. Trey Lance, who entered for an injured Jimmy Garoppolo, threw for more yards and as many scores as Wilson on five fewer pass attempts. It can be said this performance from Wilson was the beginning of the end for him and the Seattle Seahawks season.

Similar to the previous meeting, the Seattle Seahawks are coming off a loss. A key difference this time around is there doesn’t appear to be much optimism that Seattle will come out victorious. This current Seahawks offense looks broken and dysfunctional. It starts with Wilson and he looks like apathy has set in. Which is shocking from a veteran and Super Bowl winner. This team needs him to regain his fight and passion. Otherwise, it’s all over and it’s time to draw the curtains on this show.
A Glimmer of Hope
So, the Seattle Seahawks do get a little bit of a break. San Francisco’s best offensive player, Deebo Samuel, will be out for this game due to a groin injury. However, their star running back Elijah Mitchell will be playing in this game. The rookie sixth-round pick has been a surprise to everyone. Well, maybe not San Francisco. In the last five games, he’s played in only once has he handled less than 18 carries in a game and been under 90-yards rushing.

Right now this San Francisco offense is resembling what many people thought they’d be coming into the year. Run the ball, have efficient safe quarterback play, and let their playmakers make plays. If the Seattle Seahawks can’t stop the run this game will be over in a hurry. Consequently, if the Seahawks offense racks up a third game of haveing five straight three and out’s a victory will look bleak. Here’s to hoping this Seattle Seahawks team can get back on track and get a win.
