Outlook
If the season ended before this game, Seattle and New York would be the NFC’s fourth and fifth playoff seeds.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith may be short of targets this week. Penny Hart is doubtful, and both D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are game-time decisions.
Aside from Marquise Goodwin and, to a lesser extent, Dee Eskridge, the Seahawks’ receiver corps is mighty thin. Look for them to use plenty of two tight end sets with Will Dissly and Noah Fant.
It will be interesting to see the variety of ways Seattle Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron finds to put the ball in Kenneth Walker‘s hands. With all their injuries, KW3 could be the Seahawks’ best offensive weapon.
NYG defense coordinator Wink Martindale likes to blitz often. One of the more interesting facets of this game is how quickly Seattle Seahawks rookie tackles Charles Cross and Abe Lucas can read what’s coming and pick it up.
The G-Men have also been hit hard by the injury bug. Daniel Jones won’t have Sterling Shepard, Kenny Golliday, and tight end Daniel Bellinger. New York also traded Kadarius Toney this week, leaving Darius Slayton and rookie second round pick Wan’Dale Robinson as his primary targets.
It will be up to the Seahawks’ front seven to stop the NFL’s second-leading rusher Saquon Barkley. He can break off a big run at any time. And while Jones may not have top receivers to work with, he’s more than capable of gaining big chunks of yardage on the ground.
