Outlook
It’s the “Shoot out at SoFi.” The Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Chargers are two of the highest-scoring teams in the NFL.
Los Angeles has the league’s third-ranked pass offense with 1,680 yards. They will be a good measuring stick for Seattle’s young corners.
Rookies Tariq Woolen and Coby Bryant will face off against Mike Williams and maybe Keenan Allen, who is a game-time decision. Then there’s Austin Ekeler. When he’s not a bruising between-the-tackles style running back, Ekeler is a dynamic receiving back who is difficult to bring down in the open field.
The Seattle Seahawks offense has to put up points because their defense hasn’t been good, ranked 31st in the NFL. This probably isn’t the week that their D turns it around.
Smith, Metcalf, Lockett, Walker, etc., will have to carry an extra load again.
While 27th is better than 31st, Los Angeles’ defense isn’t exactly good either. Smith should maintain his NFL completion percentage lead. The Chargers allow opponents to complete 65.4% of their pass attempts.
Not only should Seattle’s aerial attack have a field day, but so should their run game. The Chargers run defense is 23rd, giving up 125 yards per game and 5.6 yards per carry.
It will be interesting to see the variety of ways Seattle Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron finds to put the ball in Kenneth Walker‘s hands.
