Interesting Trends

For all the negativity around this team, the Seattle Seahawks are 5-3 in their last 8 games. At home, they’ve covered 5 of 7. The total has gone over in 8 of the last 10 times these teams played each other.

Aside from one thing, the trends don’t look good for the Falcon. They have lost 4 straight, 5 of 6, and 9 of 12. Atlanta’s lone bright spot is they are 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games against Seattle.

Seattle Seahawks Injuries

Out (Game) – DT Shelby Harris (personal). DoubtfulJoey Blount (hamstring.) CB Justin Coleman (calf). Questionable – S Quandre Diggs (knee). Probable – CB Artie Burns (groin), G Damien Lewis (leg).

Outlook

Neither of these teams is very good. Our Chris Phillips was spot on in his opponent preview when he wrote that this game could go one of two ways.

In scenario one, the game gets bogged down and turns into a 60-minute quagmire. If it does wind up as a punt-a-thon, Michael Dickson is definitely the guy Pete Carroll wants to flip the field.

Conversely, Sunday could turn into a shootout due to the poor defenses. Quarterbacks Geno Smith and Marcus Mariota will have receivers running open all over the field. An ideal situation for Seattle’s D.K. Metcalf.

If Mariota decides to pull the ball down and run for it, he should prepare to see Seattle’s number 56 in his face. Jordyn Brooks will shadow Atlanta’s QB all day.

What’s really going to happen is that both teams will try to establish the run. Cordarrelle Patterson may have better stats so far, but with the Seahawks line at full strength, Rashaad Penny and Kenneth Walker should have better opportunities to break a big play.

Matchups to Watch

Seahawks WRs D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett vs. CBs A.J. Terrell and Casey Hayward.

QB Marcus Mariota vs. Seahawks MLB Jordyn Brooks.

Seahawks C Austin Blythe vs. DT Grady Jarrett

WR Drake London vs. Seahawks CB Tariq Woolen.
