Seattle Seahawks injury report – Game 12 vs. New York Giants

Seattle Seahawks
D.J. Reed, Seattle Seahawks.

Our game day eve report. PNWS lets you know who could miss the Seattle Seahawks Game 12 matchup against the New York Giants.

Last week the Seattle Seahawks were in Philadelphia for Monday night football. It wasn’t a highlight reel game for either team.

Two Seahawks failures highlighted the first quarter. They couldn’t get the job done on a pair of fourth down attempts. Both times, Seattle was in enemy territory, and one of them happened at the Philly two-yard line. Toward the end of the second quarter, the Seahawks got their act together and got on the scoreboard… twice.

The first touchdown came on a nice fade to David Moore, while the second happened via a 16-yard run by Chris Carson. These were Seattle’s only two touchdowns for the game.

The second half was more of a quagmire than the first. Seattle had five possessions that resulted in three Jason Myers field goals and two Michael Dickson punts. Seattle’s defense played tough throughout the night. The front four (and Jamal Adams) relentlessly hounded Eagles QB Carson Wentz.

Overall this wasn’t the greatest game played, but the Seattle Seahawks prevailed 23-17. That’s all that matters.

Injuries

Seattle Seahawks

Out IR – TE Greg Olsen (foot), WR Josh Gordon (COVID-19 intake), DE Bruce Irvin (knee), CB Quinton Dunbar (knee), S Marquise Blair (knee), WR Phillip Dorsett (foot), S Lano Hill (back), DT Bryan Mone (ankle), CB Neiko Thorpe (groin).

Doubtful – RT Brandon Shell (ankle), RB Travis Homer (wrist/knee), CB Tre’ flowers (hamstring).

Questionable – G/C Kyle Fuller (ankle), LEO Carlos Dunlap (foot), RB Carlos Hyde (toe), G Damien Lewis (groin).

Notes – The Seattle Seahawks got Shaquill Griffin back against Philly, but now opposite cornerback Tre’ Flowers is doubtful to play this week. D.J. Reed proved he is a capable replacement earlier this year. It might not matter who the cornerbacks are because the Giants start backup QB Colt McCoy. The 11-year vet didn’t exactly set the field on fire in Cincinnati last week when he came in for injured Daniel Jones.

New York also lost their best pass rusher, Kyler Fackrell, to an injury last week. That should be good news for a Seahawks offensive line that looked awful against Philadelphia. James Bradberry will be the latest cover corner to try his luck against D.K. Metcalf. Last week, “The Mandalorian” rendered Eagles All-Pro cornerback Darius Slay useless. Even with that advantage, the Seahawks have a bigger one with Isaac Yiadom covering Tyler Lockett.

New York Giants

Out IR – OLB Kyler Fackrell (leg), RB Devonta Freeman (ankle), RB Saquon Barkley (knee), LB Oshane Ximines (shoulder), LB Lorenzo Carter (Achilles).

Doubtful – QB Daniel Jones (hamstring).

Questionable – LB David Mayo (knee).

Notes – Right now, New York is the biggest flea in the circus. In other words, they lead the NFC East with a 4-7 record. After losing bell-cow running back Saquon Barkley in the second game, his replacement Devonta Freeman went on IR five weeks later. Wayne Gallman stepped into the starter’s role and made the most of his opportunity. His 215 yards and four touchdowns over the past three weeks have been a revelation for the G-Men.

Big Blue plays this game without their much-maligned quarterback Daniel Jones. The sixth overall draft pick of 2019 injured his hamstring last week. Veteran Colt McCoy is their QB this week.
