Pacific Northwest Sports is here for Seattle Seahawks fans. We have all the facts and tidbits 12s need to know for Sunday’s game. This week the Seahawks open their 2021 NFL season in Indianapolis against the Colts.

Details

Who: Seattle Seahawks (0-0) at Indianapolis Colts (0-0).

Where: Lucas Oil Stadium – Indianapolis, IN.

When: Sunday, October 12, 2020, 10:00 a.m. PDT.

Weather: Indy plays in a stadium with a retractable roof. If the roof is open, expect sunny skies with temps in the mid-80s to low-90s and winds from the southwest at 15 MPH. Should the Colts keep it closed, then it should be calm and cool inside. (weather.com)

TV: FOX (Directv 713). Announcers: Kenny Albert, Jonathan Vilma, and Sara Walsh. (awful announcing)

Line: Seahawks -3. Over/Under: 49 (Oddshark).

Interesting Trends: The Seattle Seahawks won their last four regular-season games and six of seven. From a betting perspective, Seattle has disappointed recently. The Seahawks covered twice in their last seven games and are on a five-game losing against the number on the road.

Then again, Indianapolis is 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games. A notoriously slow-starting team, the Colts lost their opener in each of the last seven seasons.

Seahawks Injury Report: Out – OT Cedric Ogbuehi (biceps), LB Ben Burr-Kirven (knee), TE Colby Parkinson (foot). Probable – RB Rashaad Penny (calf). Something to keep an eye on, receiver D.K. Metcalf was limited in Friday’s practice with a calf injury.

Colts Injury Report: Out – LT Eric Fisher, WR T.Y. Hilton, CB Xavier Rhodes, DE Kemoko Turay, WR J.J. Nelson, OT Sam Tevi. Questionable – C Quenton Nelson (Back), G Danny Pinter (foot). Probable – QB Carson Wentz (foot), C Ryan Kelly (Covid), WR Zach Pascal (Covid), WR Parris Campbell (Achillies).

Outlook

It’s always tough for a West Coast team to fly across the country and play in the early game. Since this is the first game of the year, it might not be as difficult for Seattle.

Look for the Seattle Seahawks defense to capitalize on a very beat-up Colts offense. Indy is missing several starters, especially along the offensive line. The Seahawks will come after a hobbled Carson Wentz, who is missing his top target T.Y. Hilton.

If Russell Wilson can get time to throw, his receivers, D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, have favorable matchups with Xavier Rhodes out of the game. A successful rushing attack is the best way to open the passing game and neutralize All-Pro linebacker Darius Leonard. Running back Chris Carson will get plenty of touches.

Matchups to watch

DT DeForest Buckner vs. Seattle guards Damien Lewis and Gabe Jackson – A former 49er, Buckner knows the Seahawks well.

Seattle pass rush vs. battered Indy offensive line – Carlos Dunlap and Darrell Taylor will be unleashed.

CBs T.J. Carrie and Rock Ya-Sin vs. Seattle WRs D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett – it’s almost not fair.

I like Seattle to cover the 3 point spread. The over looks good; 49 points feels too low to me.
