In a game that lacked anything but excitement, the Seattle Seahawks got their 4th win of the season by beating the Los Angeles Chargers 37-23.

The Seahawks’ first drive wasn’t indicative of how the game would go for the rest of the afternoon. They gained 31 yards before Geno Smith was picked off on a deflected pass that was intended for Tyler Lockett.

However, the Chargers couldn’t capitalize on the turnover and turned the ball over on downs.

Seattle’s next drive started with defensive pass interference on the first play on a pass intended for DK Metcalf and an offensive pass interference on the next play by DK Metcalf. It ended with a 20-yard TD pass from Smith to Marquise Goodwin.

Seattle’s defense continued their hot start their next time out. The Chargers were just getting started on offense before Justin Herbert threw an interception to Ryan Neal, which killed the drive.

DeeJay Dallas got the Seahawks’ next drive started with two runs tyotaling of 20 yards. Aided by a roughing the passer call, Smith moved the team downfield. A 12-yard touchdown run by Kenneth Walker put Seattle up 14-0.

There were more fireworks from the Seattle Seahawks’ defense. Just when it looked like L.A.’s offense was starting to click, Darrell Taylor strip-sacked Herbert and recovered the fumble. That led to a 46-yard field goal from Jason Myers.

The tide turned when the Chargers scored touchdowns on their next two possessions, which bookended a Geno Smith fumble. Herbert found some chemistry with Mike Williams and Austin Ekeler to power the Chargers.

Seattle drove down the field again shortly before halftime, highlighted by a 28-yard completion to Colby Parkinson. Goodwin made a fantastic catch in the endzone, his second TD of the game, to put the Seahawks up 24-14 at the break.

Seattle added to their lead in the second half with a drive that went 77 yards but ended with Myers making a 34-yard chip shot field goal. He put home another FG two drives later.

In between the field goals, however, was a big Seattle Seahawks miscue. After the Chargers downed a punt on the two yard line, Seattle couldn’t run a handoff out of the endzone. Troy Reeder made his only tackle of the day, stopping Walker cold for a two point safety,

The Seahawks finished out their scoring on a 74-yard touchdown run from Walker, and the Chargers could only counter with one touchdown of their own. The final score is Seahawks 37, Chargers 23.
