The Seattle Seahawks finished the 2023 regular season with a 19-16 OT win over the Rams. Here are this week’s overreactions.

The Seattle Seahawks overcame the Rams by a score of 19-16 in overtime. It wasn’t an impressive display of offense by either team. They only managed to get one offensive touchdown and relied on their kickers to get the rest.

Seattle had 13 drives in the game but only scored on five of them. Worse, they were 1 of 11 on third downs. Despite their offensive struggles, the Seahawks picked up over 400 yards of total offense for the game.

Here are a few overreactions from this week’s game:

First stop Playoffs, then the Super Bowl

Indeed, the Seattle Seahawks are in the running to win Super Bowl LVII because they made the playoffs. However, it’s far from a given that they will even make it past the first round.

They have been shoring up areas that looked like weaknesses earlier in the year, and it’s an ongoing process. The fact that the offense only came up with one touchdown against the Rams defense with nothing to play for is a bit worrisome.

Kenneth Walker continued his impressive rookie season with another 100-yard rushing game. The next most productive player was Tyler Lockett, who had four receptions for 54 yards and 1 TD as the Seattle Seahawks offense was spread among many contributors.

Seattle’s defense has taken their game to another level. Over the last two games, they have allowed a combined 22 points and 548 total yards. The big question is whether or not they can keep it up without inside linebacker Jordyn Brooks.

Geno Smith Is The Seattle Seahawks Answer at Quarterback

Geno Smith has played remarkably well this season, but this game showcased some of his weaknesses. He finished the game with 19 completions on 31 attempts, 213 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions, and he was sacked 3 times.

It would be easy to take this game as an outlier, considering how well he has performed over the rest of the games this season. He has taken his play to another level this season and has turned in a most improved player, if not MVP type of performance.

Smith has also provided great leadership for this team. Whether the Seahawks are up or down, he’s been a steady positive influence.

The Seahawks Have A Good Running Game

Kenneth Walker had another impressive performance on the ground. But the Seahawks have struggled to find consistency with anybody else on the field.

He and Rashaad Penny would have made a good one-two punch. At times he has made a young offensive line look better than it should.

A sound run game is crucial in the postseason. Walker will have an even bigger stage to make a name for himself as the Seattle Seahawks advance.
