The SiriusXM MLB Futures game takes place on Saturday, July 8, at T-Mobile Park. Both teams will be managed and coached by Seattle Mariners alumni.

This year’s Major League All-Star Game takes place at T-Mobile Park. Aside from the game itself, there are other activities, such as the home run derby and celebrity softball game.

Major League Baseball also showcases their up-and-coming minor leaguers at the annual futures, a few days before the All-Star Game. It’s a tasty appetizer to kick off the festivities.

MLB chose to honor the Seattle Mariners of the past by appointing some M’s alumni as managers and coaches.

Past

Just like the ASG, it will be National League vs. American League. They will be managed by Raul Ibanez and Harold Reynolds, respectively.

National League Coaching Staff

Manager – Raul Ibanez (Mariners 1996-2000, 2004-2008, and 2013)
Pitching coach – Félix Hernández (Mariners 2005-2019)
Bullpen coach – Joel Piñeiro (Mariners 2000-2006)
Bench coach – Adrián Beltré (Mariners 2005-2009)
Hitting coach – Jeremy Reed (Mariners 2004-2008)
First-base coach – Randy Winn (Mariners 2003-2005)
Third-base coach – Dan Wilson (Mariners 1994-2005)

American League Coaching Staff

Pitching coach – Jamie Moyer (Mariners 1996-2006)
Bullpen coach – Max Weiner (Current Mariners Minor League Pitching Coordinator)
Bench coach – Dave Valle (Mariners 1984-1993)
Hitting coach – Alvin Davis (Mariners 1984-1991)
First-base coach – Jay Buhner (Mariners 1988-2001)
Third-base coach – Mike Cameron (Mariners 2000-2003)

Future

Surely MLB will put some Seattle Mariners prospects on the American League roster for the hometown fans. Catcher Harry Ford, Seattle’s first round pick in 2021 and current top prospect (MLB Pipeline), should be there, especially after his performance for England at the recent World Baseball Classic.

Outfielder Gabriel Gonzalez, the Seattle Mariners seventh-ranked prospect, is off to a good start at Single-A Modesto with a .333 batting average and .840 OBP.

Speedster Jonatan Clase has 24 stolen bases in 28 attempts for Double-A Arkansas. The M’s number 11 prospect also averages 1 home run per 14 at-bats. Ninth-ranked prospect, first baseman Tyler Locklear has a .991 OBP.

Among pitchers, several would-be candidates, such as Bryce Miller and Brian Woo, are already on the Seattle Mariners main roster. Emerson Hancock is possible due to his status as Seattle’s third-ranked prospect. But he has been uneven this year.

Are you looking forward to seeing Seattle Mariners heroes of the past at this year’s Future’s Game?
