Betting action is picking up as teams prepare to open the Major League season. Here is a look at some of the Seattle Mariners’ odds, futures, and proposition bets.

We are a week away from the Seattle Mariners’ opening day on July 24 in Houston. With the resumption of team sports, bettors are also coming back. That means there are odds and futures on how the M’s as a team and certain players will fare this season.

Team

Over/Under

Las Vegas doesn’t think very highly of the Seattle Mariners in 2020. The Superbook at the Westgate puts the team’s 2020 win total at over/under 24. That will happen when almost a quarter of the games two of the three favorites to win the World Series, Houston (10 games), Los Angeles (4).

Odds to win

With such a low win total, obviously odds on the M’s to make the postseason and beyond are extraordinarily high. The odds on Seattle to win the American League West Division are 80/1. As far as their World Series chances, at the Westgate, they opened at 300/1 in October and has stayed there. If you decide to put some money down, according to oddsshark.com, a pair of online books have higher odds. Both Sports Betting and BetOnline list the Seattle Mariners at 500/1.

Bovada has the Mariners listed as +900 to reach the playoffs and -4500 against a postseason appearance.

Individuals

With such a young team, there aren’t many individual awards Mariners players are likely to take home in 2020. This is how the futures board looks at various sportsbooks.

American League Cy Young

Believe it or not, three M’s pitchers were part of the Westgate’s odds to win the American League Cy Young Award. Yusei Kikuchi is 300/1, while both Marco Gonzales and Justus Sheffield are 500/1. There must be some action from Japan affecting the odds because Gonzales is the ace of this staff.

American League Rookie of the Year

Because the Seattle Mariners are so young, they have several players in contention to become the A.L. Rookie of the Year. First baseman Evan White is among the top 10 at FanDuel Sportsbook with 19/1 odds. 2018 first-round, pick Logan Gilbert is 50/1, despite his slim chances to make the M’s roster. Projected fourth starter Justin Dunn is 75/1. USA Today Sportsbookwire has Dunn as their longshot pick. Curiously, Kyle Lewis doesn’t appear on many boards. If you can find him, he’s 50/1. That’s a value pick after his impressive 2019 September run.

Player Prop Bets (Bovada)

There are also prop bets for individual players available.

  • Dee Gordon, .275 batting average – over -115/under -115.
  • Evan White, .255 batting average – over -115/under -115.
  • Kyle Seager, .250 batting average – over -110/under -120.
  • Mallex Smith, .250 batting average – over -115/under -115.
  • Mitch Haniger, .245 batting average – over -120/under -110.

Other Bets

There are a few MLB-wide prop bets at the Westgate that one Seattle Mariners player could cost the casino some money. Center fielder Mallex Smith is probably the fastest man in baseball. He has a shot to hit the over on both stolen bases, 18 ½ (Bovada 17 1/2), and triples, 4 ½. Those aren’ easy tasks in a 60-game schedule, but they are doable.

In case anyone was wondering, oddsshark.com has the Mariners at +264 for their opener at Houston.
