PAC-12 Football Power Rankings week ending 11/23
6. Arizona State (0–1)
Last game: (11/7) The Sun Devils let a big win slip through fingers. USC scored a pair of touchdowns in the last three minutes to pull out a 28–27 win.
This week: For the third straight week, Arizona State had to cancel. Their next scheduled game is December 5 against UCLA. It’s really too bad that ASU has so much trouble with coronavirus; Herm Edwards put together a good team for this season.
5. Washington State Cougars (1–1)
Last game: (11/14) – The Cougars have to be kicking themselves. They had Oregon on the ropes at home and let the game get away from them. Holding a 19–7 lead with 20 seconds left in the first half, UO receiver Jaylon Redd beat the secondary for a 59-yard completion to WSU’s three-yard line. One play later, the Ducks punched it into the endzone.
Washington State’s defense was no match for Oregon’s offense in the second half, yielding 353 yards and 29 points. In what could be a harbinger of things to come, Wazzu’s true freshman quarterback Jayden de Laura threw for 321 yards and a pair of touchdowns against a tough defense.
This week: There is no game this week for Wazzu. Because of COVID-19 concerns, the Cougars had to cancel for the second straight week. This one hurts a little more because it was supposed to be against Washington in the Apple Cup. Hopefully, WSU can get healthy for their next scheduled game on December 4 at USC.
