NFL Hot Takes – It’s All About The Quarterbacks

In the NFL, quarterbacks are the most important players on the team. Lately, they’ve been flexing some muscle.

The National Football League season is almost over. All that’s left at this point is to crown a champion. Who would have thought this season would have gone so relatively smooth. At the start of the season, I thought for sure the league wouldn’t make it to Week 17. But through all this pandemic, we’ve had football bullying its way through.

Super Bowl

This Super Bowl will be between the G.O.A.T (Patrick Mahomes), and the has been (Tom Brady). Some may say it’s between the G.O.A.T (Brady) and the Kid (Mahomes, a kid is a baby goat). Whatever title you want to refer to this game, it’s going to be great to watch. The biggest matchup to watch is between lines. Whichever team’s line can handle the trenches is going to win the game.

Deshaun Watson Trade

The latest reports out of Houston are that it doesn’t matter who the Texans hire as their next head coach; Deshaun Watson wants out! He has a full no-trade clause, and his top two destinations are the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins. GM Nick Caserio will probably want to deal Watson to the NFC compared to an AFC foe. Could Watson stick it to Houston by agreeing to the lowest offer from an NFC team?

Aaron Rodgers Trade?

Anyone who’s watched the NFL these past two years is aware the Discount Double Check (Aaron Rodgers) himself is not a big fan of head coach Matt LeFleur. Could this year’s NFC Championship game blunder be the final straw? When speaking after the game, Rodgers was not happy. It’s not only about the loss but also about how Green Bay went for a field goal instead of trying for a potential game-tying touchdown. Rodgers went so far as to say that he has a lot to think about this offseason. Could he instruct his agent to work a trade behind the scenes?

For all the talk about Rodgers’ future in Green Bay, the quarterback and team don’t seem like they are on the same page. Monday Packers GM Mark Murphy said in an interview:

“I’ll say this, there’s no way in heck that Aaron is not going to be on the Packers. I mean, he is going to be the MVP of the league. He might have had his best year ever. He’s our unquestioned leader, and, you know, we’re not idiots.”

However, Rogers struck a somewhat different tone on the Pat McAfee Show:

“I don’t think that there is any reason why I wouldn’t be back,” Rodgers said. “But look, there’s not many absolutes in this business. So to make an absolute statement about something that is not an absolute, I didn’t do it.”

Established quarterbacks such as Matt Stafford, Sam Darnold, Drew Brees, and Matt Ryan could find themselves in different situations next year. Stay Tuned.
