NBA Takes…with Teresa: Lakers, Bucks, and All-Star snubs…what’s up?

NBA

The Lakers and Bucks have losing streaks. Luka Doncic over Donovan Mitchell for All-Star starter. A coach is fired after losing to the Knicks. What is going on in the NBA?

The Lakers are on a three-game losing streak. On Monday, they lost to the East’s 13th seed Washington Wizards. The once league-leading Milwaukee Bucks had a six-game losing streak before winning their last two. After losing to the New York Knicks, Ryan Saunders, son of famed Timberwolves’ coach Flip Saunders, got the ax. Isn’t this about the time in the season that a Knicks’ coach gets fired? Talk about upside down…

The Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers have lost their last three games. On Monday, Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook went to the Staples Center and whipped the Lakers, defeating them 124-127 in overtime. Is Anthony Davis that big of a piece of their greatness, or does L.A. need a few more pieces? I think they need some more pieces. Can Lebron James hold them down while AD is out? All I know is LeBron James is getting up there in age. He looks great and still plays phenomenally, but he’s gonna need rest to stay that way. Davis and LeBron will have to be 100% going against anyone in the west, let alone the Brooklyn Nets.

The Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks currently have a two-game win streak. Before that, they had a five-game losing streak. Double losses to the Toronto Raptors and a loss to a struggling Thunder team had some Bucks fans worrying. According to the team’s superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo, “I think it’s gonna help us as a team to be mentally tougher.” I thought losing in the playoffs was supposed to do that. Jrue Holiday has been out for six weeks. I guess he’s a better player than I thought.

The All-Star Day

This year the New York Knicks have a player in the All-Star game (screaming like a 14-year-old girl that just spotted Justin Bieber)! After eight-long-years, the Knicks have a player in the game. Other than that, several players have been snubbed. That has nothing to do with Julius Randle. Everybody voted for Randle. Those snubbed: Devon Booker (this is the only snub in my opinion), Russell Westbrook, Trae Young, Bam Adebayo, yada, yada, yada.

I’m upset that Donovan Mitchell won’t be a starter. I’ll leave it there.

This and that

  • Damian Lillard was named Western Conference Player of the Week. Phoenix blew out the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday 132-100. Tuesday night, the Denver Nuggets defeated the Blazers 111-106. The Blazers now have a losing streak. It’s time to talk trades. PNWS just did a great piece on that.
  • Rumored that the Dallas Mavericks are shopping Kristaps Porzingis around. Mark Cuban adamantly denied it. I seem to remember Daryl Morey adamantly denying the same about Chris Paul.

Well, that’s it for this week. Until next week let’s all be safe.
