We caught a glimpse of Dominick Harris during the Gonzaga Bulldogs - Eastern Oregon game. Could he find himself in the rotation soon?
We caught just a glimpse of Dominick Harris during the Gonzaga Bulldogs – Eastern Oregon game. Could this mean that he will find a spot in the rotation?
During that wild Eastern Oregon Mountaineers blowout game, when the Gonzaga Bulldogs defeated the EOU by 78 points, Dominick Harris played 14 minutes. In that short amount of time, we got to see that Harris, indeed, still has it.
But what good is having it if you’re never on the court? When Drew Timme, Chet Holmgren, Julian Strawther, and Rasir Bolton declared for the 2022 NBA Draft, I’m sure many, like myself, thought this would be the season that Harris would finally start for Coach Few.
Then one by one, Bolton, Strawther, and Timme returned. Additionally, Efton Reid III and Malachi Smith came to the Gonzaga Bulldogs through the transfer portal. Harris’ chances of being in the rotation, let alone starting, went from slim to none.
Those who have seen Harris play know what a shame that is. Harris’ over-the-head and no-look passes, along with his sharpshooting, make a spot in the Zags regular rotation inevitable.
Is Harris wasting away on the bench? Could his limited minutes be a hindrance when it comes time for him to declare for the NBA Draft? And he will declare for the draft.
In high school, Harris played with Isaiah and Evan Mobley. He still stood out, including a 50-point, 10-rebound game against Cornerstone Christian. Harris broke open school records in that win!
Dominick had such an awesome high school career; at one point, he was #1 on ESPN’s Top Ten. As a sophomore, Harris dunked over now Golden State Warrior James Wiseman.
So much talent, such little room in Mark Few’s rotation. Let’s hope that by March, the coach will find a space for Harris. He is too good to sit on the Gonzaga Bulldogs bench.
