Gonzaga Basketball: Don’t underestimate Dominick Harris
Out for his sophomore year recovering from foot surgery, Dominick Harris is ready to step up and claim his spot on Coach Mark Few’s starting lineup, and we should be glad he is.
There is a gaping hole where the Gonzaga Bulldogs starters used to be. They all declared for the 2022 NBA draft. Therefore, we will not know until June 1 who may be returning to school. In the meantime, let’s talk about Dominick Harris because we know he will be there.
Just because he didn’t play last year…
Just because he couldn’t play last year due to recovering from foot surgery, don’t underestimate Harris. In February, he was already doing warmups with his team. We will never know if Coach Few would have put him in the later NCAA games. But there’s no need to talk about what didn’t happen.
Former teammate Andrew Nembhard had this to say about Harris:
“I just love his game, love him as a kid. He just works so hard, he’s all about the team. Whenever he does come back, he’s going to be great…”

As a Freshman
When Harris was a freshman Bulldog, so was Jalen Suggs. And Andrew Nembhard had arrived from the transfer portal and was allowed to play right away, so there wasn’t much time for Harris. However, he did average 3.0 points per game.
That doesn’t show what this kid can do. Dominick averaged 21 ppg, 2.8 ppg, and 5.5 RPG in high school. As a senior, he averaged 15.6 ppg. So imagine the excitement this young man will bring to the MAC.
What’s next?
The Gonzaga Bulldogs’ starters Chet Holmgren, Drew Timme, Andrew Nembhard, Julian Strawther, and Rasir Bolton declared for the 2022 NBA Draft. Even if Strawther and Bolton return, I think Harris will be the point guard taking Andrew Nembhard’s spot.

NIL
Dominick Harris has teamed up with the Cascadia Public House, and they created a sandwich called the “Dominator.” Five percent of each sandwich sold will be donated to local community centers and charities of Harris’ choosing. What a guy!
I am ready for this young man to play and excited to see him on the court in the Kennel. I can imagine the excitement he will stir up for us Gonzaga Bulldog fans.
I can’t wait for the season to start and watch the Gonzaga Bulldogs’ next floor general, Dominick Harris, help his team go to the championship!
Until next time, stay safe and healthy out there.
