Gonzaga Basketball: And Rasir makes five…
The Gonzaga Bulldogs will miss the speedy guard who flashed up the court and hit that three-pointer… just in time – sending the Kennel into a frenzy.
Rasir Bolton came to the Gonzaga Bulldogs in his senior year. A young man who had gone through some stuff but coming out on the other side developed a mantra:
Remain humble, may stumble, never tumble. It’s something I live by, no matter what happens. You have to roll with the punches and keep pushing forward.
During his year here in Spokane, Bolton joined Rick Clark, the founder of Spokane Quaranteam, in raising money for those less fortunate in the Spokane area during the pandemic. In addition, some of his teammates, Nolan Hickman, Hunter Sallis, Chet Holmgren, and Ben Gregg, have also helped to deliver goods such as blankets, food, and clothing.
Hours before boarding the plane to take him to this year’s NCAA tournament, Bolton made a stop to assist Quaranteam in filling backpacks for the homeless. Quaranteam then gave these backpacks to the homeless on their drive down to the tournament.
Rasir Bolton has given Gonzaga all it could ask for.
He’s also given much more to those in need.@_Brian_Hamilton on the @ZagMBB guard: https://t.co/tT05WERwkv pic.twitter.com/k7wFRnnhG6

In his only season with the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Bolton averaged 11.4 points, with a 50.2 field goal percentage. I often describe him as speedy because of his lightning-fast way of racing up and down the court. I’m sure Zags fans will never forget when he shot that 50′ buzzer-beater at halftime against Texas.
When Bolton had not declared at the deadline, I hoped somehow he would use his Covid exemption year and return for one more go-round with the Gonzaga Bulldogs, but no, instead, he’s moving on. With Rasir Bolton declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft, that leaves zero members of the 2021-22 starters.
“To Zag Nation and the Spokane Community, I love you guys! I appreciate the love and support you all had for us a team and for welcoming me with open arms. I am forever grateful… I hope I made a difference.”

It is a shame that this great group of Gonzaga Bulldogs didn’t go further than the Sweet 16 in this year’s NCAA tournament. Here’s wishing them all, Drew Timme, Andrew Nembhard, Chet Holmgren, Julian Strawther, and of course Rasir Bolton, the best in the draft and their NBA careers. The Kennel will miss you deeply.
Up next for Gonzaga Basketball is what the new Gonzaga Bulldogs’ starters could look like in November. Until then, stay safe and healthy out there.
